5 Fully Funded PhD Programs in England

Here are 5 Fully Funded PhD Programs at Bournemouth University, England:

1- Fully Funded PhD Position in Animation Synthesis

The research project, CAS3, addresses the challenges in traditional character animation by leveraging smart clothing infused with flexible sensors. The aim is to revolutionise character animation methods, particularly for short video production and emerging metaverse applications. The research explores motion/animation synthesis based on inputs from wearable sensors and aims to develop tools for synthesising virtual character motion with smart wearable sensors, facilitating creation and editing of motion data and images using mobile devices.

Application Deadline: 16 June 2024

2- Fully Funded PhD Position in Advanced Non Player Character Systems for XR Healthcare Simulation (XR-NPC)

Single-user contemporary XR healthcare training simulations lack effective teamwork simulation and debriefing methods, compared to traditional high-fidelity manikin-based training which employs multiple human participants. While multiplayer XR simulations can naturally facilitate effective teamwork and debriefing due to their group nature, self-study / single player XR content does not. Better self-study options will be a major boon to XR healthcare training, allowing individual learners to gain confidence in a safe and repeatable environment; and allow training anytime, anywhere, without complex organisation / scheduling.

Application Deadline: 30 June 2024

3- Fully Funded PhD Position in High conductive and stable lithium-ion solid electrolyte

Did you ever thought of making batteries that is safer, more efficient and can help achieving better performance for electric vehicles and energy storage application? If so, perhaps this fully funded PhD studentship is available for you. Bournemouth University is teaming with ambitious industrial partner, Arkimedes B.V. (The Netherlands), to develop new types of solid-electrolytes to build next generation solid state batteries. The project is multidisciplinary and covers aspects of chemistry, chemical engineering, physics and materials science. Main focus will be on developing novel synthesis method and while making the industrial processing easier.

Application Deadline: 30 June 2024

4- Fully Funded PhD Position in Assessing the impact of pollution management on freshwater biodiversity

This PhD aims to quantify ecological (macrophyte, macroinvertebrate and fish) and functional (decomposition) responses to reduction in CSOs and other stressors across three major river networks in the New Forest, incorporating both the main channel and adjacent floodplain habitats. By examining the impact of water quality improvement across a freshwater landscape, incorporating ecological and functional components, a more holistic catchment-wide assessment of ecosystem health can be obtained.

Application Deadline: 30 June 2024

5- Fully Funded PhD Position in Understanding marginalisation and experiences of water sports

This PhD aims to address these knowledge gaps by focusing on children and young people with multiple forms of marginalization and their experiences in watersports. Through a partnership with the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) and the Andrew Simpson Foundation (ASF), this PhD scholarship will explore access to, feelings of safety, and experiences of wellbeing within these spaces. Central to this research will be the empowerment of children to voice their concerns and aspirations, ensuring that their thoughts, feelings, and views translate into meaningful change. Prospective candidates are encouraged to propose research that places children’s agency and wellbeing at the forefront of their project.
