Research Fellowships in Psychology in Portugal

A call for applications is now open for the attribution of 2 (two) grants of Research Fellowship within the scope of the Pluriannual Funding to Psychology Research Centre (CIPsi), School of Psychology, University of Minho (UID/01662/2020), supported by FCT/MCTES through national funds, under the following conditions:

Scientific Area: Psychology

Recipient category: Masters enrolled in PhD courses or non-conferring degrees courses integrated into the educational project of the University of Minho, developed in association or cooperation with one or more R&D units.

Requirement

  • The applicants may apply without prior registration in the course for which the fellowship is open. The requirement to enroll in a degree course or non-academic degree course will be verified on the date of contracting the fellowship;
  • Only fellowships whose selected applicants present valid proof of enrollment in a degree course or non-academic degree course will be contracted, according to the type of the fellowship, issued by the academic services of the Higher Education Institution, indicating, respectively, the academic year or its duration (start and term).
  • Enrollment in non-certified courses (without curricular units) will not be considered as proof of enrollment.

Candidates’ profile

  • Integrated Master’s Degree in Psychology or legal equivalent, with at least 14 values (final classification);
  • Research Knowledge in Psychology of Justice.
  • Fluency in the Portuguese and English languages (spoken and written);
  • At the time of the respective hiring, candidates must prove that they are enrolled in non-conferring degree courses or a Doctoral Program, both integrated into the educational project of the UMinho, developed in association or cooperation with one or more R&D units.

Eligibility:

Applicants must comply with the eligibility conditions laid down in article 9 of the Research Grants Regulation of the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (2019). (https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/docs/RegulamentoBolsasFCT2019.pdf).

Workplan and objectives to be achieved:

  • Research and Literature Review;
  • Contacts with institutions;
  • Recruitment of participants
  • Data collection with interviews, questionnaires, documents, etc. (Data collection may require travel);
  • Construction and management of databases;
  • Analysis of quantitative and qualitative data;
  • Participation in seminars and scientific meetings;
  • Reports and scientific writing.

Application deadline and submission:

The call is open from April 18th to May 3rd, 2024 (23:59 – Europe/Portugal).

Applications must be formalized, mandatory, by sending an application letter with the following documents in PDF format:

  • Curriculum vitae of the candidate, in Portuguese or in English;
  • Certificates of the academic degree(s) required, specifying the final grading (mandatory) and, if possible, the grades obtained in all the attended curricular units, or the candidate’s declaration of honor that the degree was obtained until the end of the term of application;
  • Declaration attesting ability and conditions to apply the type of research fellowship, following the application requirements;
  • Motivation letter written in Portuguese or English;
  • Other documents that the candidate considers relevant to the evaluation process.

Applications must be sent by email to bolsas@psi.uminho.pt, indicating the reference “CIPSI-BI-JV-2024-01” of the call for applications in Subject. Applications submitted by other means will not be accepted.

Fellowship contract-utilization: 

The fellowship will be attributed by signing a fellowship contract between the University of Minho and the fellow, according to the contract minute (annex IV of the Regulation of Research Fellowships of the University of Minho (RBIC), published in Diário da República, 2nd Série, no. 119, through dispatch no. 6524/2020 of 22-06-2020, ratified by ratification declaration no. 447/2021 of 22-06-2021, as indicated in 2.4 of the FCT document: “Rules for Granting and Management of Grants within the scope of R&D projects, including infrastructure projects, the multi-annual financing program for R&D units and other FCT financing instruments (Version 2021)”.

The contract may only be concluded after all the required documentation is collected, which must occur within a maximum period of 6 months.

Once all the documentation has been received, the contracting entity has a period of 60 working days to conclude the scholarship contract. Once received, the fellow must return the contract duly signed within 15 working days.

The activities under the fellowship contract can only begin after proper authorization by the contracting entity.
