The first call for applications for the OHCHR-EAA Youth Rights Academy 2025, a five-day initiative jointly established by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and Education Above All, will take place in Switzerland.

This program aims at strengthening the capacities of young human rights advocates and practitioners guaranteed under circumstances of conflict and insecurity. Students will learn about the significant definitions, concepts, and frameworks related to youth and human rights.

The program will be held in Switzerland within the dates of July 7-11, 2025; thus, it offers a fabulous opportunity to visit a European country and have direct contact with the Department of Human Rights and the UN Directorate.

Participants will undergo numerous training and co-curricular programs face to face, and learn about various advocacy tools and skills in promoting human rights and confronting problems faced by communities.

It intends to equip young human rights defenders across the globe with knowledge and skills for use in activism. Travel and accommodation in Geneva during the program will be covered for participants, allowing them to tour Switzerland and learn from experience. The application to the program, which covers five days at the place, is free.

Eligibility Criteria

To visit Switzerland for free and participate in the Youth Rights Academy, apply for the OHCHR-EAA program 2025, ensuring you meet the eligibility criteria.

To be eligible for the program, applicants must be between 18 and 30 years old as of 7 July 2025.
Candidates from around the world are eligible to apply for this Switzerland program.
They should have a minimum of 2 years of experience in promoting human rights, particularly the rights of young people, at local, national, regional, or international levels.
Similarly, all participants must fully commit to the five-day in-person Academy, including any training sessions and extracurricular activities.
Applicants must have a working-level proficiency in English, as all Academy sessions will be conducted exclusively in English without interpretation services.
Moreover, the selection process prioritizes diversity in gender, age, geography, ethnicity, culture, and educational background.
Applications are especially encouraged from young individuals with experiences of conflict or insecurity.
