The IMB International PhD Programme (IPP) 2025 is an international scholarship by the Institute of Molecular Biology (IMB) for students with a master’s degree or equivalent in molecular biology.

The program offers research opportunities in Gene Regulation, Epigenetics, and Genome Stability and allows students to join the IPP community of 200 global students.

The IMB International PhD Programme 2025 offers students a fully funded scholarship program in Mainz, Germany, providing full support, supervision, training, career development, and networking opportunities. The IPP Mainz also reduces PhD costs and allows free study in Germany.

IPP students participate in dynamic research within collaborating groups at IMB, JGU, and UMC. They also established a Thesis Advisory Committee with prominent scientists.

The IPP 2025-26 PhD scholarship is open to international students in molecular biology or life sciences, with two summer calls for “Molecular Mechanisms” and “Molecular Biomedicine.”

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or its equivalent or anticipate completion before enrollment.
  • Students worldwide can apply for the scholarship in Germany for 2025.
  • Applicants must provide comprehensive information for two references, with at least one having supervised the applicant in a research project.
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English is required.
  • Applicants must choose one of the calls they want to apply for and choose the PhD research project and group they are interested in.
