Funding Your Studies in Germany
Wondering how to finance your Master’s or PhD in Germany? The good news is that financial support is available for both EU and non-EU students.
Master’s Students
- Non-EU Students: Receive a monthly stipend of €934, along with additional allowances that may cover health insurance.
- EU Students: Scholarships vary, with a maximum of €812 per month for living expenses, plus €300 for books. It’s important to note that while tuition fees are generally covered within the EU, there may be cases where you’d need to pay them in Germany.
PhD Students
- Non-EU Students: Get a monthly stipend of €1,200, a €100 mobility allowance, and additional individual allowances.
- EU Students: Receive a €1,350 monthly scholarship, with an extra €100 specifically for research costs. Similar to Master’s programs, tuition fees are usually not covered in Germany for PhD studies.

Master’s Programs:
- Got your international degree? Great! Applicants with university entrance qualifications from outside Germany can apply.
- Show us your experience! Proof of your first professional qualification is required.
- German language skills are key! You’ll need proficiency in German at level B2 or DSH 2 (with certificate).
PhD Programs:
- Already admitted to a doctoral program? Perfect! We welcome applicants with proof of admission from a state or state-recognized university.
- Got a plan? A valid timetable for completing your program is required.
- Research focus matters! Priority is given to PhD subjects related to the Foundation’s activities.
- Don’t forget the German! Proficiency in German at level B2 or DSH 2 (with certificate) is a must for PhD applicants as well.
