Fully Funded PhD study on Hydrogen Isotopes in Germany

A fully funded PhD scholarship is available to join the esteemed “Hydrogen Isotopes” Research Training Group (RTG 2721) in Germany. With this amazing opportunity, you will be at the forefront of creating novel techniques for hydrogen isotope separation, a crucial technology for developments in nuclear fusion research and renewable energy generation.

The Department of Reactive Transport is looking for a PhD student (f/m/d): Hydrogen isotope separation experiments, Research Training Group 2721: “Hydrogen Isotopes”. The Institute of Resource Ecology performs research to protect humans and the environment from hazards caused by pollutants resulting from technical processes that produce energy and raw materials.

Your tasks

  • Experimental work on the separation of hydrogen isotopes with novel materials, conducting permeation and Sorption experiments
  • Collaboration with the research groups of the Graduiertenkolleg/ Research Training Group GRK 2721
  • Research Publications
  • Presentation of research results at conferences and workshops
  • Participation and active involvement in the organization of events within the structured doctoral program at the University of Leipzig

Your profile

  • Completed university studies (Master/Diploma) in the field of chemistry, physics, materials science or related area
  • Basic knowledge in radio-chemistry and crystallography – knowledge and experience in experimental/analytical work and radionuclide handling desirable
  • Willingness to work in dedicated radio-chemistry laboratories and handle open radionuclides
  • Excellent written and speaking skills in English
