Job description
AgriLoop is a Horizon Europe research project that aims to improve the recovery of highly functional native molecules from primary and secondary residues and to tailor bioconversion schemes towards microbial proteins and polyesters, to overcome the limitations related to feedstock complexity, processes eco-efficiency, and end-products performances. This PhD project will contribute to Agriloop by developing novel microbial-based pre-treatment and fermentation technologies for producing short- and medium-chain carboxylic acids from agri-food residues.
Type of employment
- PhD candidate researcher: Full-time, fixed-term appointment for initially 1 year, yearly renewable after positive evaluation up to 4 years. The intended starting date is 1st of January 2025 (or earlier if possible).

Eligibility
- A Graduate degree in microbial science, biotechnology, bioscience designing, or the same, finished before the beginning date of the position.
- Excellent grades in relevant subjects.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience in bioprocess engineering, anaerobic microbial cultivation, and various analytical techniques.
- Strong experimental design and data analysis skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English (C1 level).
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and international team.
