The University of Copenhagen’s Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences is offering a fully funded PhD position to study fungal genomics. It is a great opportunity for international students to study in Denmark.
Project: Cracking the Code of Fungal Chromosomes
This project focuses on a newly discovered aspect of fungi: accessory chromosomes. These extra chromosomes hold hundreds of genes, but their impact on fungi is unknown. You’ll investigate how these chromosomes affect how fungi interact with plants and insects.
Applicant should be:
A passionate graduate student with experience in fungal biology, genetics, and/or genomics. Have an experience with molecular biology techniques and data analysis is a plus. He or she should be enthusiasm for solving mysteries and a strong grasp of molecular biology are key.
Project Offer
Join our dynamic research group and work in modern labs with excellent resources. You’ll gain expertise in fungal genomics, bioinformatics, and insect-plant-fungus interactions. This research is both fundamental and has practical applications in agriculture and disease control.
The PhD Program
This is a three years, full-time PhD research program. To qualify, you’ll need a relevant Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Biology, Biotechnology, or a similar field. As a PhD fellow, you’ll conduct your research, take relevant courses, participate in international collaborations, potentially teach, and write scientific papers and your PhD thesis.
How to Apply?
- Deadline to submit your application is April 21st, 2024,
- Include a cover letter, CV, transcripts, references, and anything else that showcases your qualifications.
