Join a fully funded PhD in Biochemistry in the Netherlands, researching the structure and function of Archeal chromatin. Your future starts here!
Description
The aim of the project is to understand structure, function, and evolution of Archaea histone proteins in bacteria and Archaea. The Leiden Institute of Chemistry’s Macromolecular Biochemistry group is a multidisciplinary research group that studies diverse Macromolecular systems and their structure-function relationships.
This project mainly focuses on investigating different proteins involved in DNA organization and compaction mechanism using biochemical, biophysical techniques as well as structural biology. In collaboration with Dr Sebastian Geibel and Dr Steffen Brünle, the goal is to define the role and DNA structuring properties of already known or newly identified conventional and non-conventional archaeal histone proteins.
What You Will Get
A PhD applicant will exclusively conduct and assess trials for duration of four-year research which will culminate in a dissertation containing the results where applicable published in scientific journals.
The prospective student must hold a Master`s degree have some background information on cloning, expression of proteins, X-ray diffraction as well as being proficient in the English language.
