Description
Biology Bachelor Summer School 2025 is currently accepting applications from international students. The School hosts this program at the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of UNIL and is open for undergraduates who already have two years in their current bachelor’s degree.
It includes an expansive research opportunity in biology, medicine, and related disciplines but has a strong emphasis on the biological sciences. Fully funded summer research in Switzerland, bringing more profound insight into laboratory and research work while preparing students to bridge theoretical knowledge with its practical applications.
Offered in English language, scheduled to take place in July and August. With that, about 15 bachelor students with backgrounds both in medical and biological studies will be selected.
The Biology Undergraduate Research School in 2025 will take place in Switzerland, offering international undergraduate students a chance to participate in research projects at some of the finest laboratories at the University of Lausanne.
This program is fully funded and gives insight into lab research activities and skills that would best be applied in practical working conditions. All the participants will conduct their research projects in different laboratories, thus allowing them to learn from each other and gain even more experience.
The program thus will comprise very much shared academic activities, student research presentations made by the students, lectures from top faculty members, career guidance workshops, and social activities such as swimming, alpine skiing, barbecues, and tours across other Swiss cities.

Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants should have an academic background in biology, medicine, or a related discipline with a strong focus on biological sciences.
- Applicants must have completed two years of their bachelor’s degree and will be pursuing their third year at the time of the SUR program.
- As the summer program is highly competitive, students must have a GPA >3.75 or equivalent or be in the top 5% of class ranking.
- Students should have excellent communication skills in spoken and written English.
- Students must be able to participate for the entire duration of the international summer program.
- The UNIL SUR Program 2025 is open to both national and international students.
- Applicants must be proficient in English as the international summer camp is in English.
Benefits
- The program will pay for and arrange for the housing of all the participants. SUR participants will be housed in one of the UNIL associations in Lausanne in a male/female (mixed) furnished apartment.
- The 2025 SUR program will provide an amount of CHF 1,500 to cover other living expenses.
- Students will get reimbursement for travel expenses at the end of the program (CHF 500 (for European travel) and CHF 1200 for international travel).
- Visa assistance is also provided to all international students who need it.
