Description
The purpose of this project is to comprehend how synaptic receptor complexes’ target-specific differences in their molecular composition, nanoscale organization and dynamics affect synaptic transmission efficiency, activity-dependent plasticity as well as information processing in the nervous system.
Advanced molecular tools and imaging techniques will be used in this project to unveil how synaptic diversity at the molecular level and nano-scaled organization features come about and subsequently dictate their functional properties. The applicant will acquire practical skills in slice electrophysiology, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, endogenous protein labeling methods, two-photon functional imaging methods, ultra fast 4D and super-resolution microscopy.
