The University of Helsinki seeks a PhD student to join Dr. Piret Avila’s research group investigating ageing and life history evolution (start: September 1, 2024, negotiable). The project uses theoretical evolutionary biology methods to explore the diversity of ageing patterns and sex-specific differences. This research has significant implications for ageing, reproduction, and life history theory.

Requirements
- A highly motivated student with a Master’s degree in biology, mathematics, physics, economics, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Curiosity and aptitude for learning are more important than specific backgrounds.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Strong interest in evolutionary biology if from a background other than biology.
