The Department of Computer Science at the University of Antwerp in the Faculty of Sciences is looking for a full-time doctoral scholarship holder in computer science, data science, and artificial intelligence. This is a fully funded PhD position. You will actively work on preparing and defending a doctoral dissertation on developing new data science and artificial intelligence algorithms.

Position and Responsibilities
- You will actively work on a thesis aimed at developing novel data science and artificial intelligence programs. Specifically, this research is relevant for applications in bioinformatics (e.g., fast interpretation of DNA sequencing results using blood samples from patients suffering from infectious diseases) or other thematic areas of concern to our research team.
- You will organize your doctoral research and regularly report on progress.
- You will follow the doctoral training program at the Antwerp Doctoral School to support your doctoral trajectory.
- You will present the findings of your doctoral research at scientific conferences and publish scientific articles related to the research project.
- You will contribute to attracting (inter)national research funding.
- You will take on a limited package of teaching and research-supporting tasks for the department, within the Computer Science programs, and the Adrem Data Lab research group.
Your Profile
- You hold a Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or you will obtain the degree by the time of appointment.
- You can demonstrate excellent study results.
- Your teaching competencies are in line with the University of Antwerp’s educational vision.
