Eligibility/Qualification
- Postgraduate degree in (bio)medical or drug sciences, natural chemistry, biotechnology, or a connected life sciences field.
- Background in molecular biology techniques, preferably in microbiology (virology).
- Knowledge of molecular diagnostic test development (primer design, NCBI blast).
- Strong laboratory evaluation skills for diagnostic molecular tests.
- Interest in clinical performance evaluations, clinical study management, and regulatory and ethical principles.
- Statistical skills for sample size, sensitivity, specificity calculations, etc.
- Interest in viral hemorrhagic fevers (Ebola, Lassa).
- Basic bioinformatics skills (R and Python preferred).
- Strong analytical, scientific writing, communication, and organizational skills.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of French is an asset.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel to Central and Western Africa.
Job Description
- Develop RPA assays for detecting viral hemorrhagic fevers.
- Conduct clinical evaluations of the assays.
- Undertake short-term research visits to Central and Western Africa.
- Prepare and defend a PhD thesis within four years.
- Present research findings at scientific conferences.
- Publish high-quality articles in scientific journals.
- Assist in acquiring funding for viral diagnostic research.
- Build networks with internal and external collaborators.
- Contribute to the management of the research group, including student supervision.
