Fully Funded PhD: Discovering novel biomarkers in Switzerland

Empa Research groups are calling for fully funded PhD positions to discover Novel Biomarkers for Chronic wound formation at the lab of the ‘Multi-omics for healthcare materials‘ and ‘Nanomaterials Spectroscopy and Imaging‘ groups. The project will be part of a larger initiative focused on the design of a precision, self-care-integrated system to completely understand, simulate, and monitor skin wound evolution, with the ultimate aim of treating and preventing chronic wounds.

Research Focus

The research focus of the successful applicant will be on the characterization of chronic wounds developing from venous ulcers and perform comprehensive proteome and metabolic characterization of wound exudates from patients. The candidate will showcase Raman spectroscopy as a rapid, noninvasive, and label-free omics technology for metabolic profiling and biomarker detection in wound exudates.
